Our client, based in Cambridge is seeking a Technology Developer with software skills and outstanding understanding of applied physics and engineering principles.

OVERVIEW :
You will be responsible for creating and developing solutions to technical problems, generating Intellectual Property and adding value for commercial exploitation and consultancy partners. You will be required to live up to the core values of 'technical excellence', 'trust' (safely placed in our client by its partners), and an innovative approach to technical and business matters. You will be expected to work in a professional, efficient, and organised manner, both alone and as part of a team, communicating clearly internally and externally.

MAIN DUTIES:
To carry out tasks as required by our client, within the scope of the role, including:
*research and development of commercially valuable technologies.
*identifying markets and companies with whom our client can create and develop ideas or products,
*building and maintaining relations with individuals and or companies who may value our client's services,
*managing projects and budgets,
*preparing proposals, reports, presentations etc., for potential and actual clients,
*travel to client's premises or other meeting venues either within the UK or abroad.
To be able to maximise opportunity to continue client relationships and develop new business, both through existing and new clients.
To comply with formal requirements such as:
*adhering to Health and Safety requirements and other relevant rules and regulations,
*being familiar with and following the Company Handbook,
*completing forms and timesheets,
*so far as possible, following standard company operating procedures,
*being answerable to one's Line Manager and the Managing Director.

COMPETENCIES:
Essential:
*An outstanding understanding of applied physics and engineering principles.
*Creativity and problem solving skills.
*Good mathematical/analytical skills.
*Software skills, especially C, VB.
*Self motivation and an ability to operate with minimal supervision

Desirable:
*Expertise in analogue and digital electronics.
*Knowledge of design for manufacture and manufacturing processes.
*Power electronics design
*Commercial experience, especially in a consultancy or engineering context.
*Proven experience of selling technical consultancy.
*Practical laboratory or workshop experience.

RELEVANT QUALIFICATIONS
*A good first degree (2.1 or above) in physics, engineering or a related subject from a top University.
*A higher degree (PhD) is advantageous, but not essential.
