Novel Systems Design Engineer ( RF Engineer or electronics / scientific background an advantage ):

Highly successful Defence Organisation based in Bristol is currently looking to recruit 2 Novel Systems Engineers.

Please Note: you must be eligible for SC (Secret Level) Security Clearance if you’re not already cleared to that level.

The salary on offer is between £35k - £40k Outstanding benefits including, Annual Bonus, Overtime, Flexitime, Pension and Company Healthcare etc.

Novel Systems Design Engineers Job Description:

Support or Lead Engineer position in the NOVEL Weapons area of SD&V (UK).

Systems engineer based in Bristol to work on a range of studies relating to the early concept definition of new systems incorporating a range of novel technologies these included pulsed power microwave applications, high RF susceptibility modelling and active and passive stealth technologies

Essential

: Assist in the definition and planning of new studies in response to customer requirements providing technical support to business winning activities.
: Carry out a wide range of technical analyses and investigations, including the evaluation, trade-off and selection of technical options
: Support the development of requirements and detailed plans for field trials of novel system prototypes. Provide system level guidance and data analysis support to field trials
: Prepare reports and routemap plans with suggested recommendations to support the definition of future technology development activities and their requirements
: Keep up to date in relevant technical areas, develop skills and capabilities to be able to provide more effective system support and expertise

: Lead or Support Bid Preparation for future Systems work.

Undertake the development of system concepts and ideas for the resolution of Technical : Problems and future work.

: Undertake System performance analysis

: Undertake Technology research and development activities

Skills / Experience:

A graduate or experienced engineer with an engineering or science background, ideally those with higher degrees (e.g. Masters or PhD) in a related physics, numerical modelling or materials science discipline are preferred.

Hard working candidate with ability to think laterally and with initiative to develop new ideas for consideration

Ability to define solutions within an open problem space, take lead in defining system concepts and capabilities.

Good understanding and ability to use MS Office tools, especially Word, Power Point and Excel.
Must be a team player, happy to liaise with all project participants at all levels of the organisation and a positive attitude towards problem solving particularly in the numerical and Finite Element modelling domains .

Strong customer facing skills are beneficial.

A strong scientific / engineering background (physics / mathematics / electronic engineering / numerical modelling) or a background in electronic and RF Engineering are an advantage
